The arts will be once again on the spotlight in Rio de Janeiro. From May 16th to the 18th, the first edition of CIGA – Integrated Circuit of Art Galleries will be held, just as traditional events that already happen in cities such as Paris, New York and Berlin.
More than 40 cultural institutions, museums and galleries will open their doors with special programming, from openings to exhibitions, visits to workshops, performances, lectures and discussions with artists and curators. The public will be invited to go to these places to see exhibitions of several Brazilian and foreign artists, bringing new visitors to Rio's art scene.
The CIGA starts on Friday with visits to our gallery and those in Copacabana, where more than seven exhibition openings will be held, especially scheduled for the event. The project continues on Saturday throughout Ipanema, Leblon, Jardim Botânico, Gávea and Dowtown galleries, as well as the studios at the Bhering Factory, Morro da Conceição and Largo das Artes. And there's more! On Sunday, the International Museum Day will be celebrated at the Museum of Modern Art (MAM-Rio), the Art Museum of Rio (MAR), Casa Daros, and CCBB, among others.
The full program, including the activities scheduled especially for the event, is available on ArtRio's website and on the Artsy app. When posting your photos, make sure to use the hashtags #CIGA #ArtRio and #compartilhearte and use Foursquare to check in the places you visit.
