Tomorrow is a long place

Daniel Blaufuks

From Sep 23 to Oct 23 2004

The Portuguese photographer and filmmaker, founder of the Maumaus School in Lisbon and professor at the School of Contemporary Art Ar.Co establishes an intimate relationship between photography and literature in the form of videos, pictures, books, installations and media ever since his project with the writer Pawl Bowles, in 1991.

Blaufuks presents in the exhibition Tomorrow is a Long Place a selection of photographs taken between 2002 and 2004. "An extremely personalised photography, concerning both time and conditions, as the picture-taking possibilities and experiences arising from the processing and photographic printing," says Sérgio Mah, photography curator and director of the Lisbon Photo, talking about his work.

The artist was recently awarded the BES Photo 2006, the most important photography prize in Portugal, with "Theresienstadt", a series of photographs, a 90 minutes video and a book related to a Nazi concentration camp.
