The series of works, based on President Lula's image were developed from January 2003, when the population and media greeted with euphoria and awe Brazil's new Head of State. Raul Mourăo recalls: "The President could not appear in public; the crowd was always around for an autograph, to take pictures or at least touch him." Realising that the greatest national leader was treated like a pop star, the artist made his first notes: making a plush doll, hand it to the dazzled people or wait and let the man work.
According to the artist "I started doing the first drawings in December 2004. Since then, loads have changed. What was just a work of art full of irony and humour now became a murderer toy. Seems that the PT took over the government to destroy the country. Lula is a disoriented character. The reality once again topped the fiction. The jokes are ready: money on their underwear, primitive instincts, a treasurer named Jacinto Lamas, and a bishop/deputy loading bags of money. The government is a supplies for humourists non-stop, it would be comical, if wasn?t tragic."
During the course of the project, Luladepelúcia gained many admirers and collaborators. The artists Barrăo, Carlos Vergara, Fabio Cardoso, Leonora de Barros, Luiz Zerbini and Marcos Chaves created works at "four hands " that integrate exhibition.
