The collective Geomtric: Female Perspectives presents several aesthetic, ethical and philosophical provocations through the dialogue between different concepts, researches, proposals and approaches of the artists gathered around the theme of geometric abstractionism.
Alice Gelli, Amália Giacomini, Elizabeth Jobim, Marina Caverzan, Marina Rodrigues and Renata Tassinari carry forward the geometry of the paths opened by pioneers Lygia Clark and Ligia Pape, heirs of the construction traditions of De Stijl, Bauhaus and Russian constructivism.
This exhibition celebrates the visions of geometric abstraction that these women have been developing in their artistic trajectories. This field – historically dominated by men – is facing, in the 21st century, the struggle for gender equality, which is increasingly achieving changes in society and in art.
